---- Auto Sysop v1.3 ----
IMPORTANT! Read this before trying to run Auto SecLevel.
=========================================================
Auto Sysop is a package of mods. for hermes, most of which are to help
sysops maintain their bulletin boards. It originally started out as
Auto SecLevel but grew to contain other useful utilities including a
bad handle filter for new user handles, limiter for number of chat requests
per a logon, and a color code bar for the text editor.
Auto SecLevel - Changes SL based on contributions to board
=============
SETUP
-----
1. This is important. If you do not adjust settings for all security levels
from 10 to 99 then when someone gets assigned a security level with no
time or logons per day, they will be logged off. Logons per day may not
log the user off when the security level is changed but may wait for the
nextlogon. This is not necessary if you turn the Auto SecLevel part of
the external off by setting upper and lower limit numbers in the STR#
resource file both to 0.
2. You may need to change any security level restrictions into access flags
at this time too, for example, if you have boards for sysops only and
currently use the security level to block out all others.
3. Put the Auto Sysop external into your externals folder and you are
all set. There are no additional files associated with AutoSec. Level.
---The following strings are in STR# ID = 10001 with their numbers
coresponding to their position in the file.
#1. Message you want users to see when their security level is automatically
raised.
#2. Message you want users to see when their security level is automatically
lowered.
---The following strings are in STR# ID = 9999 with their numbers
coresponding to their position in the file.
#2. Number of posts required to move up one security level.
#3. Number of uploads required to move up one security level.
#4. Number of logons to move user down one security level.
*Set number to zero for whichever statistics above that you do not want
to be part of your SL system.
ie: 0 for string 2 will cause SL to never be raised due to posts.
#5. Upper limit security level. The is the SL that users will max out at.
(Do not set to 255 or it could cause problems with the sysops account.)
#6. Lower limit security level. This is the lowest that a users security
level can be dropped with Auto SecLevel.
Any users with higher or lower security levels than the two limits will not
be automatically changed as before. Set upper and lower limit to 0 to turn
Auto SecLevel off for all users.
#7. Starting SL. This is the level that a new or reset user will get and is
no longer necessarily the same as the lower limit although it can be.
#8. SL to drop. This is how many security levels a users calculated SL
has to drop below their real SL before their real SL is actually
lowered.
Be very careful to make sure that you have everything configured properly
and stay within security level limits when you edit the STR# resource.
THE EXTERNALS MENU
------------------
This external is accessable from the externals menu. When a user selects
the external from the menu, he will be provided with two options. He can
hit "Z" to reset his logons, posts, and uploads back to zero, or "U" to
cause an update of his security level. The first one is included to help
out those users that may have not posted regularly and have built up so
many logons that their security level has bottomed out. If you do not wish
your users to be able to reset their logon stats or cause their security
level to be updated after the logon, then just set the HRMS resource
security level to either 255 or 256. Users that are out of the AutoSec
range can still "Zap" their post and upload stats, but their security level
will never be changed even if they use the "Update" command.
IMPORTANT! The HRMS resource controls access to the external from the
externals menu. All security levels within Auto Seclevels working range
WILL be changed regardless of whether the user can access the external
from the menu. You may want to restrict some or all users from external
menu use, but this is your option.
Bad Handle Blocker - Keeps users from using inappropriate handles.
===================
This mod will search for the occurance of any of the strings in
STR# ID = 10000 in a new users handle and will kick them off of the board
before their account information writes to disk. You can add or remove as
many words or groups of words as you want. The program knows when it has
reached the end of the list, so there is no need to change anything else.
To deactivate, either put a blank string as the first string, or erase all
strings from the file.
<<<<<ALL ADDITIONS TO THE BAD USERS LIST MUST BE IN ALL CAPS!!>>>>>
Bad handle message is stored in STR# ID = 10001 item #3.
Color Bar - Gives numbers in coresponding colors before message editor.
=========
To turn this on, change the first character of STR# ID = 9999 item #1 to
'Y'. Turn it off with anything but 'Y'. I reccomend 'N'.
The color bar will automatically be turned off for anyone without ansi
turned on.
Chat Blocker - Limits chat calls per a call a user can make.
============
This currently has a minor problem. Chat requests are counted regardless
of the result. You should set the STR# ID = 9999 resource item #9 to twice
the amount of chat calls you want each user to have per a call to allow
for turning chat off. If hits C and doesn't type anything, it still counts
as a chat call.
Too many chats message is stored in STR# ID = 10001 item #4.
To turn the Chat Blocker off, change the second character STR# ID = 9999
item #1 to anything but 'Y'.

If you really like the external, send me $5.
